Sekhukhune TVET College 2026 Engineering Apprenticeship: Apply Today

The Sekhukhune TVET College, working with the National Skills Fund (NSF), is looking for unemployed South African teens and young adults to join the Engineering Apprenticeship Programme 2026.
If you’re under 35, live in the Elias Motsoaledi Local Municipality, and want a hands‑on job in a trade that pays well, you might be a good fit. The deadline to apply is 21 November 2025 and the training will happen right on the Sekhukhune TVET College campus in Limpopo.


Apprenticeship Opportunities

The programme has four different tracks that cover the most in‑demand jobs in the region. Below you can see what you need for each one, and what you’ll learn once you’re accepted.

1. Electrical Apprenticeship

To get this position, you should have finished:

  • NCV Level 2–4 in Electrical Infrastructure Construction – that means you’ve completed 21 subjects in this area, or
  • N2–N6 Electrical Engineering – you need either the N2 Electrical Trade Theory or N3 Electro‑Technology course.

You’ll work with wires, switches and big power systems, learning how to keep buildings and factories running safely.

2. Diesel Apprenticeship

For the diesel track you need:

  • NCV Level 2–4 in Engineering Related Design – 21 subjects that include Automotive Repair and Maintenance as a chosen subject, or
  • N2–N6 Mechanical Engineering – with N2 Diesel or Motor Trade Theory and N3 Mechanotechnology courses.

You’ll get to work on engines, learn to tune them, and fix common problems in trucks and other vehicles.

3. Welder Apprenticeship

If welding sounds exciting, the requirements are:

  • NCV Level 2–4 in Engineering Related Design – with Fabrication as a vocational subject, or
  • N2–N6 Mechanical Engineering – with N2 Plater Theory, N2 Welder Trade Theory, and/or N3 Mechanotechnology.

You’ll learn to fuse metal parts, make strong joints, and create structures that can support heavy loads.

4. Plumber Apprenticeship

The plumber track needs:

  • NCV Level 2–4 in Civil Engineering & Building Construction – with Plumbing as a chosen subject, or
  • N2–N6 Civil Engineering – with N2 Plumbing Trade Theory.

You’ll be installed pipes, fix leaks, and keep buildings fresh and safe.


What You Must Know

  • You must be younger than 35 years old.
  • If you studied at Sekhukhune TVET College before, that can help your chances.
  • You need to live inside the Elias Motsoaledi Local Municipality.
  • All applicants go through a thorough check to make sure they meet the criteria.
  • If you get selected, you’ll sign a formal agreement and a work contract.
  • The programme especially welcomes people with disabilities who are unemployed.

How to Apply

  1. Prepare your documents

    • Write a clear Curriculum Vitae (CV).
    • Gather copies of all your qualifications (NCV or N2–N6 certificates).
    • Bring an ID copy and proof that you live in the municipality.
  2. Send an email to skillsintern1@sektvetcol.co.za.
    In the subject line type the name of the apprenticeship you want (for example: “Electrical Apprenticeship – Application”).
    Attach all the documents you just gathered.

  3. Read the rules

    • Once you send your CV or certificates, they won’t be returned.
    • The college will not accept WhatsApp messages or files for this process.
