Mintek HR Graduate Internship Opportunities 2025-2026 | Apply Today

What’s up?
If you’ve just finished university and want to see what a real company does behind the scenes, Mintek, South Africa’s top mineral research lab, has two internships that let you learn the ropes inside their Human Resources team. One internship focuses on the computer side of HR – making sure the people‑management software runs smoothly. The other is more hands‑on, helping to hire, train and support the team. Both spots are in Randburg, Gauteng, and give you a paid, fixed‑term job while you learn.

Apply by: 19 November 2025
Salary: R186,180 per year – a good start for a student or fresh graduate.

Internship 1 – HR System Analyst Intern

Who we’re looking for: A recent graduate with an Honours (or Master’s) degree in Information Systems, Data Science or Computer Science. If you’re comfortable with software tools, like HRIS (Human Resources Information Systems), and want to see how a big company keeps its people data tidy, this is for you.

What you’ll do:

  • Keep the system running: Check how the HR software is doing, spot problems, and suggest improvements.
  • Talk to people: Work with HR staff and tech teams to fix bugs or add new features.
  • Help with upgrades: Test new updates so they work before everyone uses them.
  • Support users: Answer simple tech questions and give short tutorials on new functions.
  • Automate workflows: Look for tasks that can be done faster with the software and design new ways to do them.
  • Build reports: Create easy‑to‑read dashboards that show key HR numbers for managers.

What you’ll learn: Data analysis, project management, how to document changes, and how to explain technical details to non‑tech people. These skills are useful no matter which industry you pick next.

Internship 2 – Human Resource Intern

Who we’re looking for: A fresh graduate with an Honours degree in Human Resources, Industrial Psychology or a similar field. If you enjoy talking with people, keeping records, and making sure everyone follows the rules, this internship is a good fit. A Master’s degree can help, but is not mandatory.

What you’ll do:

  • Recruiting: Help post job ads, screen resumes, schedule interviews, and keep applicant files organized.
  • Training: Put together a yearly training calendar, register employees for courses, and track attendance.
  • Reporting: Prepare reports that show how many employees have completed training, and handle required government forms (like SETA, EE, BEE).
  • Bursaries: Manage student grants and pay university fees when needed.
  • HR admin: Make sure all paperwork follows company policies and national laws.

What you’ll learn: How to handle confidential information, keep a tidy file system, and juggle many tasks at once. You’ll also see how a research company hires and keeps its talent.
