The Western Cape Government is looking for unemployed graduates who live in the Western Cape to join its Graduate Internship Programme for the years 2025 to 2027. If you are a recent graduate, aged 18‑35, and you want real‑world experience inside a government office, this is a great chance to start your career.
What the Internship Offers
- Two full years of work experience inside a Western Cape government department.

Who Can Apply?
To be considered, you must:
- Be a South African citizen living in the Western Cape.
- Be between 18 and 35 years old.
- Be unemployed and looking for your first government internship.
- Have finished Grade 12 in the Western Cape.
- Hold a qualification at one of these levels:
- Certificate (NQF 5)
- Diploma (NQF 6)
- Degree (NQF 7)
- Postgraduate qualification (NQF 8 or higher)
You should have studied in one of the following areas, or something similar, to fit the internship role:
- Sport Science
- Communication / Journalism
- Community Development
- Finance
- Administration‑related fields
The programme prefers applicants from Western Cape institutions. If you are in a tough financial situation or lack a career mentor, you may get extra consideration.
Skills We’re Looking For
- Speak and write clearly in at least two of the Western Cape’s official languages.
- Comfortable using MS Office and basic office equipment.
- Good at planning and organizing tasks.
You should be able to explain your ideas both in writing and orally.
