South Africa’s mining sector is looking for fresh talent – and it’s offering you a chance to jump straight into hands‑on engineering work with a nationally recognised qualification. Valterra Platinum is opening an Engineering Learnership Programme for 2026 and will close applications on 3 April 2026.

What the Valterra Platinum Engineering Learnership Programme Is

The programme is an 18.2-month learnership that blends classroom theory with real workplace experience inside the mining industry. When you finish, you’ll earn a national Artisan qualification that can open doors to a long‑term engineering career.

Who Can Apply?

To be considered you must be a South African citizen who is currently unemployed. The learnership is open to applicants from all provinces, with a preference for those living in host communities.

General Entry Requirements

  • Grade 12 or equivalent with a pass of at least 40% in Mathematics, Physical Science, and English.
  • Alternatively, an N2 or higher qualification that covers subjects relevant to the chosen trade, again with a 40% minimum in each.

Trade‑Specific Requirements

Below are the subject prerequisites for each available trade. If you already hold an NCV Level 4 in the relevant trade and have passed all subjects at 40% or higher, that also satisfies the criteria.
