Internship Opportunity – Receptionist Intern, Universities South Africa (USAf)
Are you a recent graduate who is looking for real work experience in a university setting?
USAf is opening a 12‑month internship program that starts in early 2026 and ends on 27 February 2026. The role is based in Pretoria, South Africa, and will give you a full year of hands‑on work in front‑office and administrative duties.
USAf, the national association that represents all public universities in South Africa, is a non‑profit group that helps universities speak up, research important topics, and work together. Their main office is in Pretoria and they get support from membership fees and donations.
Internship Details
The Receptionist Intern will be the first person visitors see and will help keep the office running smoothly. This position is a great way to learn everyday office tasks and learn about the higher‑education world.
What you’ll do:
- Answer the phone and welcome people who come to the building.
- Keep the reception area clean, organized, and friendly.
- Handle mail – receive, sort and hand it out to the right people.
- Take notes during meetings, file papers and use a computer to copy, print or fax documents.
- Schedule meetings and arrange snacks or drinks when needed.
- Help other departments with general administrative tasks.
- Follow security rules to keep the office safe.
- Store old paperwork in an archive and do extra tasks when asked.
This role is a solid stepping stone into corporate administration and offers a glimpse into how universities operate.
What We’re Looking For
- A bachelor’s degree or a similar qualification.
- Basic knowledge of office tasks like filing, typing and answering calls.
- A good understanding of how to treat visitors and guests politely.
- Comfortable using Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Clear writing and speaking skills.
- Strong organization and time‑management abilities.
- A professional look and attitude.
