Tswelopele Local Municipality is looking for young people who are 18 to 35 years old and live in the Tswelopele area to join the municipality as interns in climate change, waste management, and occupational health & safety. This internship lasts six months and is a chance to learn real skills while helping your community. The openings are split between two towns: Hoopstad and Bultfontein, with nine places in each town. You’ll help the municipality track climate data, support green projects, and work on plans to reduce the town’s carbon footprint.
Waste Management Internships (6 spots)
Here you’ll learn how the municipality handles trash, keeps the environment clean, and promotes recycling and other sustainable practices.
Occupational Health & Safety Internships (6 spots)
You will help make workplaces safer, teach people about health rules, and check that safety standards are followed.

To be considered, you should have one of the following certificates or a related degree:
- Climate Change: National Diploma, B-Tech, Degree or a similar qualification
- Occupational Health & Safety: National Diploma, Degree or related study
- Waste Management: National Diploma, Degree or related study

Additional things that help: a good attitude toward learning, self‑control, and clear speaking and writing skills.
Stipend
Each day you work, you’ll get R247.50. This helps cover everyday expenses while you learn on the job.
