Traxtion is opening a scholarship called the TraxWAGON Bursary Programme 2026 for South African girls who want to study in technical and engineering fields. This is a chance to get full financial support while you learn skills that can help you build a career in rail, mechanical or other technical jobs.
Important dates: Submit your application before 9 January 2026. The programme is for full‑time study at a TVET College, and it is only available for students from the provinces of North West, Free State, Mpumalanga, Northern Cape and Gauteng.
Why the TraxWAGON Bursary Exists
The aim of this bursary is to give girls who have faced disadvantages a chance to enter careers in rail, engineering and technology. Many of these jobs need more women to bring fresh ideas and balance. Traxtion wants to help more girls start and thrive in these fields, from hands‑on work to higher‑level roles.
What You Can Study
You can pick from the following subjects. Each is offered at a DHET‑registered TVET College in South Africa:
- Boilermaking
- Diesel Mechanics
- Electrical Engineering
- Fitters and Turners
- Mechanical Engineering
- Supply Chain and Logistics
- Warehouse and Inventory Management
Who Can Apply?
To be considered, you must meet the following criteria:
- Be a South African citizen and a girl.
- Come from a background that has struggled with inequality.
- Be between 18 and 35 years old.
- Live in one of the five provinces listed above.
- Have a real need for financial help.
- Either be a current matric student or have finished matric.
- Score at least 60 % in your final matric exam.
- Plan to study full‑time at a TVET College in South Africa.
- Have been accepted or registered for one of the subjects we listed.
What You Need to Send
When you apply online, you must upload copies of the documents below. They should be clear and certified:
- South African ID (certified copy)
- Matric results or the latest school results
- Latest exam results if you are still studying
- Proof of registration or acceptance at a TVET College
- Proof of where you live (like a utility bill)
- Recommendation letter from your school principal or a teacher
- Your Curriculum Vitae (CV) – a short summary of your background and goals
Missing any of these documents could mean your application is rejected.
