What the learnership offers

Sun Sibaya, a part of Sun International, will run 12‑month, accredited learnerships in Sibaya Casino, KwaZulu-Natal. Two tracks are available: Cashier and Slots (Technical & Floor Assistant). Each programme blends classroom training with real casino work, leading to a National Certificate that employers respect.

Who should apply

  • Must have a Matric certificate or an equivalent NQF Level 4 qualification.
  • Own a valid South African ID.
  • Pass an English test.
  • Able to work shifts, including in smoking areas.
  • Can stand for long periods and move gaming machines.
  • Have good people‑skills and a self‑motivated attitude.

Applicants from designated groups under the Employment Equity Act will be prioritised, but all qualified youth are welcome to apply.

Cashier (Job Ref SI-775)

Positions available: 10. You’ll work in a casino cashier role and learn how to manage daily counts, capture data and serve guests. The qualification earned is a National Certificate in Gaming Operations, NQF Level 4.

  • Check work area and equipment readiness.

Slots – Technical & Floor Assistant (Job Ref SI-773)

Positions available: 10. This track focuses on the technical side of electronic gaming machines. The outcome is a National Certificate in Gaming Technical & Floor Assistant, NQF Level 3.

  • Help guests with queries.
  • Clean and service gaming equipment.
  • Replace and test minor components (card readers, keypads, screens, note acceptors).
  • Keep the workshop safe and tidy.
  • Secure and store equipment.
  • Assist with signage, cashiering gear and promotional material.
