SANDF MSDS 2027: Eligibility & How to Apply Before 27 March 2026

If you’re looking for a structured career path that can give you leadership training, a steady income and national service experience, the SANDF Military Skills Development System (MSDS) is accepting applications this year. The programme is designed to give young South Africans a real chance to grow professionally while serving the country.

What is the SANDF MSDS Programme?

The Military Skills Development System is a two‑year programme run by the South African National Defence Force. In the first year, you receive basic military training and then go into a specialised area that matches your service division. By the second year, you’re posted to a unit where you gain hands‑on experience, learn leadership skills, and practise professional discipline.

Who Should Apply? – Eligibility and Requirements

To qualify you must meet these conditions:

  • Age 18‑22 if you are a Grade 12 applicant; 18‑26 if you have a 3‑year tertiary qualification

  • Have Mathematics and Physical Science grades if you’re applying for specialised musterings like engineering
  • Have no criminal record or pending cases
