What You Need to Qualify
To be considered, you must satisfy these minimum conditions:
- Education – Must hold a qualification that lets you register with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Nursing Assistant.
- Current Registration – Be an active, registered Nursing Assistant with SANC.
- Experience Levels
- Grade 1: No nursing experience required.
- Grade 2: At least 10 years of recognised nursing work after registering.
- Grade 3: At least 20 years of recognised nursing work after registering.
Your Daily Duties
If you get the job, you’ll be doing these key tasks:
- Help patients with everyday tasks (e.g., bathing, dressing, eating).
- Deliver nursing care that follows the rules and good practice guidelines.
- Offer basic medical support as set out by SANC regulations.
- Teach patients and families about health care and healthy living.

- Work well with nurses, doctors, and other staff members.
- Arrange and manage hospital supplies and equipment.
- Be a team player on a multi‑disciplinary team to give patients full care.
