Nedbank is looking for future accountants to join the Chartered Accountant (CA) Trainee Programme 2027.
If you have a strong academic record, are curious about the world of finance, and want to learn on the job, this is a chance to start a career that can grow with you. The job is located in Johannesburg, South Africa, and the deadline to apply is 28 February 2026.
What the Nedbank CA Trainee Programme is all about
The programme lasts three years and is approved by the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA). It is built to turn students and recent graduates into fully qualified Chartered Accountants. Throughout the training, you will move between different parts of the bank – from finance and risk to marketing and recruitment. This gives you a good look at how a big bank runs and lets you pick areas you enjoy most.
The curriculum is more than just paperwork. You’ll learn the skills you need to handle real business problems, and you’ll be encouraged to bring fresh ideas into the company. You’ll also get the chance to sit on committees, helping shape things like the bank’s marketing plans or its social projects.
Why you might want to join
The CA trainee role is a stepping‑stone to a professional qualification called CA(SA). By staying with us for the whole three‑year period, you will follow SAICA’s training rules and gain the technical and ethical knowledge the bank and the industry need. You will finish with a solid base of accounting knowledge and a taste of how banks support the economy.
What you’ll be doing
- Switch between departments: You’ll spend time in several parts of the bank to see how each functions.
- Meet deadlines: Every assignment will have a target finish date; you’ll learn to manage time well.
- Take charge of your learning: You will keep track of the courses and exams you need to pass.
- Join committees: Whether it’s marketing, recruitment, or social, you’ll help plan and run events.
- Help shape culture: Your input will matter in projects that aim to make the workplace better.
