Learn a Trade, Build a Career – Msobo Coal Artisan Learnership 2025/2026
Msobo Coal is looking for South African young people who are not working and want to start a real job. The company is offering an Artisan Learnership Programme for 2025‑2026. In this programme you will learn how to work with metal, electricity, machinery and more while earning a wage. The learnership ends on 30 November 2025, and the training takes place almost 20 km north of Ermelo in Mpumalanga.
What Msobo Coal Does
Msobo Coal (Pty) Ltd is a coal mining company that prioritises careful, honest mining and coal processing. The company says it values fairness, diversity, new ideas and open dialogue, and it believes in acting responsibly in the communities where it works. By launching this learnership, Msobo Coal hopes to give local people chances to gain skills and find stable jobs.
Trade Areas You Can Learn
- Fitter and Turner – join boilers and pressure vessels.
- Electrician – work with wiring, switchgear and protection gear.
- Boilermaker – build and repair large pressure vessels.
- Mechanical Fitter – handle bolts, nuts and mechanical assembly.
- Welder / Plater – create strong metal joints and plate work.
- Instrumentation – install and maintain sensors and control systems.
- Diesel Mechanic – keep diesel engines and generators running smoothly.

What You’ll Need
- Grade 12 (Matric) – you must have finished high school.
- Minimum N2 trade theory – you need at least a Grade N2 pass in the trade you choose.
- A clear, up‑to‑date CV – include your work history and education.
- Screening and assessment – you will answer questions and possibly do a small skill test.
- A signed learnership agreement – once you join, you will sign a contract with Msobo Coal.
Safety First – Mine Health and Safety Act
The candidate must have a valid certificate of fitness or be ready to get one. This is required by the Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA) and shows that you are ready to work safely in a mining environment.
