The Department of Community Safety, Security and Liaison (DCSSL) in Mp KwaZulu‑Natal is offering a 12‑month training program called the Basic Traffic Officers Diploma Learnership for the 2025–2026 school year. What the Department wants from you
To qualify you need to:
- Have a Grade 12 (Matric) certificate.
 - Hold a valid Code B driving licence.
 - Be a South African citizen.
 - Have no criminal record.
 - Pass a medical exam to prove you’re physically fit.
 - Be ready for tough physical training, driving tests and other assessments.
 
The Department is also looking to keep its workforce diverse and will give preference to candidates who help meet its employment‑equity goals for race, gender and disability.
What you’ll get
If you’re chosen, you’ll sign a 12‑month contract with DCSSL. During training you’ll receive a stipend of R5 000 per month and will be taught at the traffic college in Mkhuhlu, Calcutta. You’ll also be part of a program that checks your qualifications, does a background check, confirms your citizenship and verifies your medical fitness. All these steps are designed to make sure you’re ready for the job and to protect you and your future colleagues.
