LPGSA Announces 2026 Bursary Competition – Join as an EduStudent and Kickstart Your Career!

Liquefied Petroleum Gas Association of South Africa (LPGSA) Invites qualified female South African students to apply for the LPGSA Bursary Competition 2026. The closing date for applications is 30 October 2025.


Why You Should Apply

LPGSA is looking for bright, ambitious girls who want to learn how to install and maintain LPG (liquefied petroleum gas) systems. The goal is to give women a chance to grow in a tech‑heavy field and help South Africa build a cleaner energy future.


About the LPGSA Bursary Competition

  • What it is – A free training program that teaches both theory and hands‑on skills for LPG residential installation.
  • Why it exists – LPGSA wants more women in the energy industry and aims to level the playing field.
  • How many spots – Eight bursaries will be awarded to the best applicants.

What the bursary covers you:

  1. All classroom lessons and practical training – You’ll learn everything from safety to wiring.
  2. Official registration – You’ll be registered with the South African Qualification & Certification Committee (SAQCC) after you finish, so you can become a certified LPG installer.
  3. Real‑world experience – You’ll learn the latest industry best practices so you’re ready for a job right away.

Who Can Apply?

  • You must be a South African citizen.
  • You must be female and come from a group that has historically been disadvantaged (BB‑BEE).
  • Your age should be between 18 and 45.
  • You need at least a Grade 9 English pass or better.
  • You should have studied STEM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) in Grade 9 or higher, or a TVET technical science course.
  • You cannot be an employee of LPGSA, its sponsors, or an immediate family member of those employees.
  • Before you send your application, read and agree to the bursary competition terms (available in PDF).

What the Bursary Includes

  • Theoretical courses covering everything from gas laws to safety standards.
  • Hands‑on workshops where you’ll install real LPG systems under supervision.
  • Certification through SAQCC that lets you work professionally in the industry.
  • Exposure to best practices so you can start a career or start your own small business in LPG installation.

File Checklist

Send all of the following documents by email—no separate application form is needed:

  1. Certified copy of your South African ID.
  2. Certified copy of your latest school or TVET results (on official letterhead).
  3. A PowerPoint presentation (max 20 slides) written in English that covers:
    • “Based on your community energy needs”
    • Questions to answer:
      1. What energy sources are most common in households now?
      2. How will LPG use affect your community’s energy needs?
      3. Which social and economic problems could LPG help solve, and how would you help?
      4. How will becoming a Domestic LPG Installer change your life?

If you are shortlisted, you will deliver your PowerPoint to the judging panel—either in person or online.
