Public Relations Intern – Kgetlengrivier Local Municipality

The Kgetlengrivier Local Municipality is looking for a motivated and well‑spoken student or recent graduate to fill a Public Relations Intern role in the Office of the Mayor. If you love writing, social media, and helping a community stay connected, this could be a great way to start a career in communications. The internship pays R10 000 per month and is based in Koster, North West Province.


What You’ll Do

  • Learn the ropes of a municipal office where politics and public service meet.
  • Help share news about the town on social media, newsletters, and press releases.
  • Brainstorm new ideas for communicating with residents, using clear and friendly language.
  • Support the Mayor’s team by gathering facts, drafting messages, and keeping online pages up to date.
  • Travel around town if needed to meet with local groups or cover events.
  • Stay flexible and ready to jump into new tasks as the city’s needs change.

You should be enthusiastic about media, technology, and community outreach. Being able to adapt quickly and think creatively will help you succeed.


Who We’re Looking For

Basic Requirements

  • Finished high school (Grade 12/Matric).
  • A degree or diploma in Media and Communications, Information Technology & Communications, or a similar field.
  • A strong voice in speaking and writing; you should be able to explain ideas simply.
  • A valid South African Code B driver’s licence.
  • A clean criminal record.

Experience Needed

  • At least one year of experience that relates to public relations, social media, or a similar area.
