The Karoo Hoogland Municipality is looking for four fresh graduates to join its finance team as Financial Interns. This 2‑year role is part of a training programme that helps you learn how a city budget works and gives you hands‑on experience in real financial work. The internship pays R100 000 a year, runs in Williston in the Northern Cape, and starts before 13 February 2026.

What the internship will look like

You’ll be working in the Budget and Treasury Office, helping to prepare city budgets, track spending, and follow rules set by the Municipal Finance Management Act. The programme gives you a clear path to become a qualified municipal finance professional.
Who can apply
- You must have a 3‑year Bachelor’s degree or a National Diploma in one of the following: Accounting, Economics, Finance, Risk Management, or Auditing.
- You need to be aged 21 to 35.
- Students still finishing a Work‑Integrated Learning (WIL) programme who hold an N6 certificate in any of those subjects are welcome to submit their application too.
What the programme does
The Municipal Finance Management Internship (MFMP) is a step‑by‑step training plan that:
- Helps you build real money‑handling skills.
- Shows you how municipal finance rules and software work.
- Prepares you to meet the required levels of knowledge for city finance jobs, as set out in the Municipal Regulations on Minimum Competency Levels.
Once you finish, you’ll have a solid foundation for a career in local government finance, accounting, auditing, or public‑sector money management.
