Hessequa Municipality is inviting South African TVET N6 graduates and university graduates to join its National Diploma and Graduate Internship Programme for 2026. The programme is a chance to get real work experience in a local government setting and earn a stipend while you learn on the job.

About Hessequa Municipality

Hessequa is a local municipality that serves communities around Heidelberg, Riversdale, Albertinia and Stilbaai. The council focuses on building skills, creating jobs for young people and giving equal chances to everyone.

The Internship Programme

The programme gives you hands‑on training in a real office or field setting. You can work between 3 and 18 months, depending on your area of study and what the municipality needs.

TVET N6 Internship

  • For students who have finished a National Certificate N6
  • Goal: help you earn a National Diploma
  • Stipend: R4 000 per month

Graduate Internship

  • For recent university graduates in South Africa
  • Stipend: R6 500 per month

People who live in the Hessequa region get priority.

Who Can Apply?

  • Must have finished N6 or hold a university degree
  • Must be a South African citizen
  • Ready to work at one of the municipal sites listed above
  • Must fill out a complete application form and send all required documents

How to Apply

Step 1 – Download the Form

Get the application form from the municipality’s website: www.hessequa.gov.za.

Step 2 – Gather Your Documents

You will need to send:

  • Completed application form
  • Curriculum Vitae (CV)
  • Certified copies of your qualifications and ID
  • Proof of where you live
  • Bank details
  • SARS tax number

Electronic submissions must not be larger than 4MB.

Step 3 – Send Your Application

Email everything to: zandile@hessequa.gov.za. Only this address will accept applications.

Important Notes

  • Late or incomplete applications will not be considered.
  • Trying to influence council members or staff will cause disqualification.
  • Shortlisted candidates will undergo reference checks, qualification verification and a criminal record check.
  • If you haven’t heard back within three months after the deadline, it’s likely your application was not successful.
  • Successful applicants must sign an employment contract, a performance agreement and a declaration of interests.
