Job Opportunity: Get Certified in an Artisan Trade with Hamba Nathi Training Center

If you already know how to work with metal, electricity, plumbing, or other hands‑on skills, you can turn your experience into a national certificate that employers recognise. Hamba Nathi Training Center is looking for trade‑test‑ready candidates to join the Artisan Trade Test Programme. The whole course is paid for by Services SETA, so you won’t have to worry about tuition. The deadline to sign up is 29 December 2025.

What is the Artisan Trade Test Programme?

The programme lets people who have spent years on the job or have finished the required training modules to be tested formally. A successful test gives you a national certificate, which can help you move up in your field, earn a higher pay, or simply prove you are qualified.

You can take the test if:

  • You have finished the required knowledge and practical lessons.
  • Or you have worked for more than three years in a related job and can show proof of that experience.

Trades You Can Apply For

Here are the artisan trades that you can test in:

  • Boilermaking
  • Welding
  • Electrical work
  • Plumbing
  • Bricklaying
  • Millwright work
  • Fitting and Turning
  • Mechanical fitting
  • Plastering and Tiling
  • Automotive motor mechanics
  • Diesel mechanics

If any of these sounds like your area of work, you might be a good fit.

Who Can Apply?

The programme welcomes:

  1. Trade‑test‑ready learners – people who are ready to take the test.
  2. Learners who finished all required modules – you can show a certificate or a statement of results.
  3. Experienced workers with three or more years on the job – you will need a service letter, your company’s registration details, and a signed confirmation from your boss.

Minimum Things You Must Provide

Your application needs the following documents:

  • A certified copy of your ID.
  • A statement of results for your highest qualification or the Standard Diploma Programme.
  • A service letter that confirms at least three years of relevant experience.

If you forget any of these, your application may not be considered.

What is ARPL (Artisan Recognition of Prior Learning)?

ARPL is a way for people who have learned their trade through real‑world work instead of an apprenticeship to get a formal qualification. If you’ve spent a long time on a job and gained skills on the job, ARPL can give you a national certificate without a full apprenticeship.

ARPL is for:

  • Workers with four or more years of related experience.
  • People who learned skills informally or on the job.
  • Those who never went through a formal apprenticeship.
  • Experienced artisans who want a recognised qualification.

Why ARPL Helps You

  • Earn a formal qualification quickly.
  • Get a nationally recognised trade certificate.
  • Open up better job chances and promotions.
  • Show that your years of practice are valued.
  • Let you work legally as a qualified artisan.
