Job Opportunity: 299 Internship Spots in the Youth Graduate Programme

Are you a young person who lives in the Fetakgomo Tubatse area and looking for a way to get hands‑on experience while earning some money? The Fetakgomo Tubatse Local Municipality (FTLM) – together with the Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment – is opening 299 internships. These spots are part of the Youth Graduate Programme that comes from the Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP). If you’re 18‑35 and not in a job or school right now, this could be a great chance to learn about environmental work, make new contacts and add a strong project to your résumé.

What the Internship Is About

The programme lasts 4 months and focuses on environmental and sustainability work that matters to the local community. It also helps young people find jobs, supports those who have finished school but still need work, and gives a boost to the environment. You will spend time on real projects – from waste management to protecting local wildlife – and you’ll get paid a daily stipend.

Who Can Apply?

The internship is open to two main groups:

  1. Grade 12 (high‑school graduates) who are currently unemployed
    • You must live in the municipality’s area.
    • You will receive at least R165 a day.

  2. People with a diploma or degree in an environmental‑related field who are also unemployed
    • These fields include Environmental Sciences, Agriculture, Development Studies, Safety Management, Occupational Health & Safety, Nature Conservation, and any other similar qualification.
    • You also must live in the municipal area.
    • The stipend starts at R271 a day.

The programme is open to anyone who is a South African citizen, is between 18 and 35 years old, and is ready to learn and grow. If you have a disability, you’re especially welcome.
