Eskom is looking for new learners for its 2026 Hospitality Programme
If you’re a South African teenager who just finished school and have a diploma or certificate in hospitality or catering, Eskom wants to hear from you. The company offers a 24‑month, fixed‑term job called the Learner Hospitality X10 that will give you real kitchen experience at the Eskom Academy of Learning in Midrand, Gauteng. The training is designed for people who don’t yet have work experience in the food service industry but want to learn the ropes from professionals.
What the Job Looks Like
The Learner Hospitality Programme is a hands‑on learning experience. You will work under an Executive Chef and help run a large kitchen. Your day will involve:
- Cooking food and arranging it so it looks good
- Managing the food inventory so nothing goes to waste
- Doing paperwork and keeping records tidy
- Following health and safety rules and keeping the kitchen clean
- Talking to customers and making sure they enjoy their meals
You’ll also get a chance to practice leadership. The program will teach you how to help new staff learn, manage time well, keep a good work ethic, and use basic management steps like planning, leading, organising and controlling.

Who Can Join?
You must have one of these qualifications:
- National Diploma in Catering Management
- National Diploma in Hospitality and Catering Services
- A Level 6 Hotel School qualification (240 credits)
You don’t need any previous kitchen job. The program is especially good for people who just finished their diploma.
