Eskom Electrical Apprenticeship – 2025
Eskom, South Africa’s biggest power company, is looking for young people who are outside the workforce to join its Electrical Apprenticeship Programme in 2025. The role is a full‑time apprenticeship that trains you to become an electrical trade professional. If you finish the programme, you’ll earn a Trade Test Certificate and have a clear path to a stable career in the power industry.
The apprenticeship takes place across several towns in Limpopo province – Burgersfort, Dwaalboom, Botlokwa, Rampheri, Hoedspruit, Letaba, Ha‑Ravele, and Muledani. The deadline for submitting your application is 31 October 2025. When you sign up, you’ll start a three‑year training plan that blends classroom lessons with hands‑on work under experienced supervisors in the Maintenance & Operations Department.
What You’ll Learn
During the apprenticeship you’ll receive both institutionalised training and practical experience on the job. The curriculum covers:
- Basic electrical theory and safety
- Installation and maintenance of power equipment
- Troubleshooting electrical faults
- Working with a range of tools and machinery
At the end of the three years, you’ll take a test that, if passed, grants you a certified trade badge that is recognised across the industry.
Who Can Join?
Formal qualifications
You need one of these:
- Technical Matric with a minimum of 50 % in Mathematics and Physical Science, 40 % in English, and passed Electrical Trade Theory
- N3 Engineering that includes 50 % Mathematics, 50 % Engineering Science, and 40 % Electrical Electrotechnology
- NCV Level 4 that covers 50 % Physical Science and Mathematics, and 40 % English
If you do not yet have a qualification, you can still apply. The programme will help you gain the skills it needs.
Experience
No previous work experience in electricity or engineering is required. The training is designed for fresh graduates or job‑seekers who are eager to learn.
