Ehlanzeni TVET College 2026 EV Manufacturing Artisan Apprenticeship

EV Manufacturing Apprenticeship – Your Path to a Green Future

If you’re a South African student who is curious about cars, tech, and the future of our planet, the Ehlanzeni TVET College together with EISOWAVE (Pty) Ltd has a chance for you. They are looking for young people to join the EV Manufacturing Artisan Apprenticeship Programme at the Nkwankwa Electric Bus Manufacturing Hub. This apprenticeship is a step-by‑step job that will show you how to build electric buses and other green vehicles, and it will give you real experience that people in the industry value.

Why This Apprenticeship is Important

Electric vehicles (EVs) are growing fast all over the world. South Africa wants to be part of that movement, and to do that we need skilled workers who know how to create and fix EV parts. By joining this apprenticeship, you will be learning how to work in a place where people turn raw materials into full electric buses. You’ll see how batteries, motors, and software fit together, and you’ll learn to work safely and efficiently.

Who Can Join?

The program is open to anyone who meets the basics:

  • NCV Level 4 graduates – if you have finished a technical qualification at this level, you’re welcome.
  • Recent college leavers – people who have just finished high school or a trade school.
  • People with up to three years of work in cars or a related field – if you’ve been working or volunteering in a garage or factory, you can apply too.

It’s not mandatory, but if you have:

  • Experience with a trade test
  • A valid driver’s licence
  • Some knowledge about electric vehicles and green manufacturing

you’ll have an edge over other applicants.

What You’ll Get

When you join the apprenticeship, you will:

  1. Learn practical skills – You’ll work on real EV parts, not just read about them. Hands‑on training means you’ll know how to fix, assemble, and test parts yourself.
  2. See the whole process – You’ll watch how an electric bus is built from start to finish, and you’ll get to try each step.
  3. Build a future‑ready résumé – The skills you learn match what employers want. Whether you want to stay in the automotive sector or move to another part of manufacturing, you’ll have something valuable.
  4. Help the planet – By working on green technology, you’re contributing to a cleaner, more sustainable South Africa.

This apprenticeship is perfect if you want to start a career in a field that is only going to grow.
