What the Internship Is About
The South African Department of Tourism is looking for fresh graduates who don’t have a job yet. If you finished university or a postgraduate program and have never done an internship before, you can sign up for the Department of Tourism Internship Programme 2026. This is a real chance to work in a government office, learn how the tourism industry runs, and build useful skills for the future.
The program runs out of Pretoria, the capital city. You’ll be part of the head office or one of the main centers that the department operates. The application deadline is 19 December 2025. If you’re interested, you can start preparing now and send your materials before that date.
Which Courses Can You Use to Apply?
The internship is open to many different study areas. When you fill out your application, you must write the correct reference number next to the position you’re interested in. Here are the options:

Who Can Apply?
- You must be a South African citizen who is unemployed.
- You need a university or college qualification that matches one of the fields listed above.
- You must be under 35 years old when you submit your application.
- You should not have done an internship before. This is for people who are starting out.
What You Need to Submit
- A completed Z83 application form – you can download it from a government website or the DPSA site.
- A current CV that shows your education, any jobs or volunteer work, and what skills you have.
When you finish the form, write the reference number, the job title, and the office (centre) you want to work in. That helps the team spot your application quickly.
If you are shortlisted, the department will ask you to send copies of:
- Your South African ID
- Your certificates and diplomas
- Your academic transcripts or records
Only the candidates that make it to the next stage will need to send these documents.
