Department of Science & Innovation (DSTI): 2026 Internships

What’s the job?
The Department of Science and Innovation (DSTI) is looking for South African graduates to join the National Youth Service (NYS) Internship Programme in 2026. This is a 12‑month paid internship that gives you real work experience, a monthly allowance, and a chance to help communities. It’s a great way to learn new skills, meet people, and get ready for a career in science, tech, engineering, math, or even some other subjects.

Why the NSTC‑NYS Internship matters

  • Gives graduates who don’t have a job a chance to work for a whole year in a real job setting.
  • Helps you earn a monthly stipend to cover your living costs.
  • Teaches you skills that employers want.
  • Encourages you to volunteer and help local projects.

The programme is part of South Africa’s broader plan to reduce youth unemployment and build a stronger knowledge economy.
