What’s the opportunity? The Collins Chabane Municipality is looking for South African high‑school graduates and college students who come from low‑income families to apply for a special bursary for the 2026 academic year. This bursary covers the cost of registering at a university or college – the first step that can keep you on track to a great career in fields that help grow our city and the country.
Deadline: 14 January 2026 – don’t miss it.
Why This Bursary Matters
Going to university can be hard when the money is tight. The Collins Chabane Municipality knows that one of the biggest hurdles for many students is the registration fee – the small, upfront payment you need to pay before you can start classes. The bursary doesn’t pay your tuition, but it does pay the registration fee, letting you officially enroll at a recognised institution. Once you’re registered, you can then look for other support, like NSFAS or college bursaries.
What the Bursary Covers
- Registration fees only at a recognised tertiary institution.
What it does not cover:
- Tuition fees
- Housing or rent
- Books and study materials
- Food and meals
- Transport costs
- Living expenses
Top Study Areas for 2026
The municipality wants to build skills that fit our local and national needs. The bursary is only for students who want to study in one of these priority fields:
