City of Johannesburg Student Internship Programme – 2025
If you’re a student living in Johannesburg and want to get real work experience in city government, this internship might be perfect for you. The City of Johannesburg is looking for fresh minds to join the Community Development Department for up to 18 months. You’ll get to work on real projects that help plan, make policies, and research how the city can better serve its people.
What the Internship Is All About
The internship is a hands‑on program that lets you learn by doing. It focuses on the Integrated Planning, Policy, and Research (IPPR) part of the Community Development Department. Think of it as the part of the city that figures out what needs to happen next, creates plans, and checks if those plans work. You’ll help with research, data analysis, and making reports that guide decision‑making in the city.
You’ll earn R10,109.86 a month. There are no extra benefits, just a basic salary that gives you a feel for working in a public service environment.
