About the Internship
The City of Johannesburg (CoJ) is looking for young graduates in Johannesburg who want real‑world experience in city work. This 18‑month internship sits inside the Environmental Infrastructure Service Department, in the Finance branch, and is based at Traduna House, 118 Jorissen Street, Braamfontein, Johannesburg.
What You’ll Do
- Help the Director of Finance with everyday office work.
- Keep track of important documents and filing systems.
- Support meetings, performance reviews, and leave paperwork.
- Work on finance‑related projects and paperwork for the city.

You’ll see how a big city runs, meet government people, and learn skills that work anywhere—like using Microsoft Word and Excel, staying organized, and talking to different teams.
Remuneration
- You’ll receive a monthly stipend of R10 109.86.

Minimum Requirements
To qualify, you must meet all of the following:
- High‑school diploma (Matric / Grade 12, NQF Level 4).
- Bachelor’s degree or National Diploma in Office Administration, or a related field (minimum NQF Level 7).
- Be an unemployed graduate (no previous internship experience).
- Live within the City of Johannesburg.
Key Learning Areas
During the internship you’ll gain hands‑on experience in:
- Office support for the Director of Finance
- Gathering and filing mandatory documents (Learning Plans, Declaration of Interest, etc.)
- Organizing meetings and performance‑management paperwork
- Helping with leave‑management for Finance and Support teams
Leading Competencies
We want people who can:
- Use computers confidently (Microsoft Word & Excel)
- Speak clearly and work well with others
- Keep tasks private, stay professional, and organize work efficiently
Core Competencies
You should also have:
- A basic grasp of office tasks and workflow
- Some knowledge of HR and training processes (bonus!)
- A proactive, detail‑oriented attitude
