Cable Manufacturing Learnership – Vacancy #364
If you’re curious about how the wires that power our phones, homes and highways are made, and you’d like a job that starts with hands‑on training and ends with a nationally recognised certificate, CBI‑electric: African Cables has a spot for you. The company runs a learnership program at its factory in Vereeniging, Gauteng, where you’ll move through every step of the cable‑making process and finish with a Level 3 National Certificate in Power and Telecommunication Cable Manufacturing (SAQA ID 21011). The deadline for applying is 17 November 2025, so don’t wait too long.
Why this learnership matters
Learning to build cables isn’t just about turning raw material into a product. It’s about understanding how electricity moves through a network, how signals travel for phones and internet, and how each piece of equipment works in a busy plant. By the end of the programme, you’ll know how to set up machines, monitor quality, and help keep a production line running smoothly. And because the certificate is nationally recognised, you’ll be ready to jump into a real job in the industry or keep going to higher training.
What you’ll do
- Rotate through the factory – You won’t stay in one place the whole time. You’ll spend a few weeks in the winding room, a few in the sheathing section, and a few in quality control. Seeing each part of the process helps you understand the full picture.
- Work beside experienced machine operators – These people know how the machines behave. They’ll show you how to set up a machine, keep it clean, and spot problems before they become big issues.
- Get hands‑on experience – You’ll be making real cables, checking their strength, and helping to keep the production line efficient. It’s the kind of work that feels great when you see your finished product in a warehouse or a delivery truck.
The programme starts right away and runs until September 2026. While you’re learning, you’ll be paid a stipend and you’ll receive a certificate that can boost your resume.
Who can apply
- You must be a South African citizen.
- Your age should be between 18 and 35 years old.
- You need to have finished Grade 12 (Matric). The minimum grades required are:
- Mathematics: 50 % or better
- Physical Science: 50 % or better
If you meet these conditions, you’re ready to apply. You can apply in two ways, depending on what’s easier for you.
