The bursary is tied to Black Rock Mine Operations (BRMO) in the Northern Cape. BRMO is a part of Assmang (Pty) Ltd, which is a partnership between African Rainbow Minerals and Assore Limited. The mine is famous for its good safety record, new technology, and a focus on teaching and helping new workers grow.

When Can You Apply?

The deadline for submitting your application is 12 December 2025. Once the application period ends, the selection will take a few weeks, and you’ll know whether you’ve earned a spot for the 2026 academic year.

Who Is Eligible?

To be considered you must meet these basic requirements:

  • Be a South African citizen
  • Be between 18 and 35 years old
  • Either be a student in grade 12 in 2025 or have finished with a Grade B average in all subjects
  • Plan to study full‑time in 2026 in one of the approved fields listed above
  • Have already been accepted, or be accepted soon, by a South African university or university of technology
  • Not be receiving any other bursary or financial aid for the same year
  • Turn in all the required documents (see below)

  • Students from disadvantaged homes
  • Students who live with a disability
  • Students from the John Taolo Gaetsewe District Municipality
  • Students with a confirmed university acceptance for 2026
