About the Anglo American Kumba Iron Ore Learnership Programme
Anglo American, one of the biggest mining companies in the world, is offering a great chance for South African youth aged 18‑35 to learn useful engineering skills. The program is called the Kumba Iron Ore Engineering Learnership Programme and is aimed at people who do not yet have a job or a company.
The learnership gives you real work experience and classroom lessons, and when you finish you will earn a nationally recognised qualification. You will be trained by experienced professionals who work every day in mining and maintenance.
What the Programme Offers
- Duration: 36 to 39 months
- Learning method: Mix of theory in classroom and hands‑on training at two spot‑locations
- Locations:
- Kolomela Mine
- Sishen Mine
Both are in the Northern Cape of South Africa.
During the program you will go through workshops, practice in real equipment, and get one‑on‑one mentoring.
Minimum Requirements
To be considered, you must:
- Be a South African citizen who holds a valid ID
- Be between 18 and 35 years old
- Possess a valid driver’s licence
- Be currently unemployed
- Provide proof that you live in South Africa
- Pass a Medical Fitness and Risk Fitness Assessment (RFA)
Educational Requirements
Choose your trade and meet these subject and grade thresholds:
