African Commodity Handling Projects (ACHP) is looking for young people in the Emalahleni, Victor Khanye Municipality, and Bronkhorstspruit Region 7 to join their 2026 Technical Apprenticeship Program.
If you’re 15 or older, have a grade‑12 or N3 certificate, and want a chance to learn real skills at a power station, read on. The apprenticeship will give you hands‑on training in electric, mechanical, and other specialist trades, plus a paid place to work while you learn.
What the apprenticeship offers
You’ll be stationed at the Kusile Power Station and nearby local communities. The program is split into two parts:
- Classroom or online theory – cover the basics of your trade.
- On‑site practical work – get your hands dirty under the guidance of experienced staff.
The training is designed to prepare you for a career in one of the following jobs. Two spots are available for each role:
- Electrician
- Mechanical Fitter
- Boilermaker
- Rigger
- Control & Instrumentation
Only people who live in the target regions can apply. If you’re from outside those areas, the slots won’t be open to you.
What you’ll do every day
- Finish the required lessons, hands‑on sessions, and tests that prove you know the job.
- Keep a logbook and complete all paperwork that tracks your progress.
- Follow safety rules and keep the workspace clean and safe.
- Work well with others, talk clearly, and keep your teacher or mentor up to date on how you’re doing.
- Take responsibility for your own learning and show that you’re ready to move forward.
Who can join
Minimum requirements
- Grade 12 or N3 certificate with at least a 50 % pass in Pure Mathematics and English.
- Know how to use basic hand tools like screwdrivers, wrenches, and measuring devices.
Nice to have
- Additional N4–N6 level certificates.
- Some ability with computers.
- A bit of past experience in a workshop or similar environment.
Skills that help
- Good numbers sense and basic maths.
- Thinking through problems before acting.
- Paying attention to small details.
- Managing your time so you can finish tasks on time.
- Speaking and writing clearly.
- Being a team player and respecting others.

- After the deadline, we’ll let you know if we got your application. If you don’t hear back within 28 days, your application will be marked as unsuccessful.
- We only consider complete and on‑time applications.
