What the programme offers
The Work Integrated Technical Learner Programme runs for 24 months. It gives you real workplace experience in three trades – Carpentry, Instrumentation and Plumbing – across many Trans Transnet sites.
Locations include Cape Town, Durban, Richards Bay, Saldanha, East London, Gqeberha, Salt River, Germiston, Koedoespoort, Bloemfontein and Uitenhage.
Who can apply
You must be a South African citizen aged 18‑35, with a Red Seal trade test certificate earned in the last four years and less than one year of work experience. The specific requirements for each trade are:
Carpentry
- Carpentry Trade Test Certificate
- Trade test completed within the past four years
- Age 18‑35
- Less than one year of work experience
Instrumentation
- Red Seal Instrumentation Trade Test Certificate
