What the bursary is
African Global Skills Academy (AGSA), in partnership with Solarpop, is offering bursary funding to eligible South African students with outstanding tuition fees for the 2026 academic year.
The location is South Africa. Funding is for outstanding fees for the current 2026 academic year. Fields of study: all fields, if you are registered at a recognised and accredited higher education institution in South Africa.
Students living with disabilities are also encouraged to apply.
Who can apply
You must meet all of these minimum requirements:
- Be a South African citizen
- Be between 18 and 35 years old
- Be African, Coloured or Indian, male or female
- Have completed Matric
- Have outstanding fees for the 2026 academic year
- Be studying towards a qualification in any field of study
- Be studying at a recognised and accredited higher education institution in South Africa
Students living with disabilities are encouraged to submit applications. Meeting the list does not guarantee funding. Incomplete applications may be disqualified.
What you gain
The bursary is meant to help eligible students with outstanding fees for the 2026 academic year. It is not limited to one qualification. Qualifying students in any field may apply.
Shortlisted candidates are expected to be contacted within three weeks after the closing date. If you do not hear back in that time, consider your application unsuccessful.
How to apply
Apply online through the African Global Skills Academy application portal. New applicants must first create an account. When you register, select the first option – Solarpop Bursary – then log in and complete the form.
Submit clear copies of:
- ID document – certified copy not older than six months
- Matric certificate – certified copy not older than six months
- Latest academic transcripts
- Proof of registration at a recognised South African tertiary institution
- Latest financial statement from the tertiary institution showing the outstanding fees
- Updated Curriculum Vitae (CV)
- Motivational letter supporting the bursary application
- Medical certificate stating the nature of the disability, where applicable

Tips to improve your chances
Fee-clearance bursaries attract many applications. A complete file matters as much as your marks.
Get a fresh certified ID and Matric certificate. Copies older than six months may be rejected. Ask your institution for the latest fee statement that clearly shows what you still owe for 2026.
Write a short, honest motivational letter. Explain your studies, the outstanding amount, and why clearing the fees will help you continue. Keep your CV updated and easy to read.
If you have a disability, attach the medical certificate that states the nature of the disability.
