Looking for help to start a nursing career right now? The Caroline Mack Foundation has teamed up with SD Recruitment to offer a nursing bursary that could cover your tuition and give you a small monthly allowance.
What is the bursary?
SD Recruitment, together with the Caroline Mack Foundation, will award one bursary for the 2027 academic year. It is for a South African student who wants to complete a nursing qualification that is recognised by the South African Nursing Council (SANC).
Who can apply?
You are eligible if you meet all of the following:
- South African citizen living in the Western Cape.
- Currently in Matric or have already passed Matric.
- Planning to study (or already studying) a SANC‑recognised undergraduate nursing programme at a recognised South African university or college.
- Achieved at least 65 % average in your previous studies.
- Can demonstrate genuine financial need.
Preference will be given to those who would otherwise be unable to afford their studies.
What does the bursary cover?
- Full tuition fees for the whole qualification.
- A small monthly stipend.
- Mentorship from healthcare professionals.
- Pre‑placement medical screening arranged by the Foundation.
- Career support to help you start working after graduation.
Work‑back obligation
If you receive the bursary, you must work back the amount funded after you finish your studies. Your mandatory Community Service year will count as the first year of this obligation. You must also keep meeting the required academic standards each year to continue receiving the funding.
