Job Opportunity: Traffic Officer Learnership 2025

The City of Mbombela is looking for young South Africans who are not working right now and who care about road safety and helping their community. If you have a Grade 12 certificate, a valid driver’s licence, and you are under 35 years old, you can join the 12‑month Traffic Officer Learnership Programme. During the programme you will learn the rules of road traffic, how to keep roads safe, and how to help people follow the law.

Stipend: R6,500 each month


What the Programme Covers

This learning plan follows the National Road Traffic Act (Act 93 of 1996). It gives you a solid mix of classroom knowledge and hands‑on practice so that you finish the year ready to work as a Traffic Officer. The City wants to grow local talent, give young people a chance, and keep roads safer for everyone.

Who Should Apply?

You need to meet these basic checks to be eligible:

  • Finished Grade 12 (Matric)
  • Hold a valid driving licence
  • Be younger than 35 years old
  • Have no criminal record or open legal case
  • Be in good physical shape and ready for training sessions
  • Be a South African citizen and a permanent resident of Mbombela
  • Show proof that you live in the city and mention your ward number on the form

What You’ll Learn

During the 12 months you will study and practice:

  • Traffic laws and how to enforce them
  • How to educate drivers and passengers about safe road use
  • The details of the National Road Traffic Act and any related rules
