What is the SANS Killie Campbell Bursary?
The SANS Killie Campbell Bursary supports postgraduate research in history. It provides roughly R25 000, paid in two equal instalments, to help you complete an Honours, Master’s or Doctoral degree.
Who can apply?
- You must be enrolled in a recognised South African university.
- You need to be studying for a postgraduate qualification (Honours, Master’s or Doctorate) in a History‑related field.
- Your research, dissertation or thesis must focus on South African history, preferably the history of KwaZulu‑Natal.
- You must have an academic supervisor who can vouch for your work.
What will you gain?
- Financial assistance of about R25 000 to cover tuition, fees or research expenses.
- Two instalments of roughly R12 500 each – the first in September 2026 at a Society meeting.
- The chance to present your research at a monthly Society gathering.
- Potential publication of your finished work on the Society’s website.
