What the opportunity is

The municipality’s Directorate of Citizen and Community Services is offering a range of short‑term contracts under the Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP). All roles are based in Umzimvubu, Eastern Cape and run for 12 months.

EPWP – Waste Management Beneficiaries

  • Posts available: 30
  • Stipend: R3 036 per month
  • Requirements: Grade 10, physically fit, good interpersonal skills, certified ID copy and proof of residence from your Ward Councillor.

EPWP – Waste Management Team Leaders

  • Posts available: 2
  • Stipend: R3 800 per month
  • Requirements: Grade 12, N6 Office Administration, computer literacy, communication skills, certified ID copy and proof of residence from your Ward Councillor.

EPWP – Project Coordinator

  • Posts available: 1
  • Stipend: R3 300 per month
  • Requirements: Grade 12, BSc/BA in Environmental Sciences or Management (or related diploma), computer literacy, certified ID copy and proof of residence from your Ward Councillor.

EPWP – General Assistant (Cancele River, Phakade to Phuka Wetlands, Poti River)

  • Posts available: 10 per location (30 total)
  • Work schedule: 12 days per month, 3 days a week
  • Stipend: R1 656 per month
  • Requirements: Grade 10, physically fit, certified ID copy and proof of residence from your Ward Councillor.

  • Work schedule: 12 days per month, 3 days a week
  • Stipend: R1 680 per month
  • Requirements: Grade 12, computer literacy, physically fit, certified ID copy and proof of residence from your Ward Councillor.

EPWP – General Assistant – Riparian Tree Planting

  • Posts available: 3
  • Work schedule: 12 days per month, 3 days a week
  • Stipend: R1 656 per month
  • Requirements: Grade 10, physically fit, certified ID copy and proof of residence from your Ward Councillor.

What you will gain
