What is the Sappi Engineering Bursary 2027?
Sappi is offering a bursary that supports South African students who want to study Engineering or Forestry Science at a recognised university. The funding can help you start a career in engineering, manufacturing, technical operations or related fields.
Who can apply?
You must meet all of the following criteria:
- South African citizen.
- Age between 17 and 25 years.
- Matric completed or currently in Matric (Grade 11 results are accepted).
- Planning to study full‑time at a university that Sappi recognises for engineering programmes.
- Mathematics score > 70 %.
- Physical Science score > 70 %.
- English score ≥ 60 %.
- Mathematical Literacy is not accepted.
- Preference is given to learners from communities around Sappi’s operations.
What you will gain
The bursary may cover:

The exact amount depends on your household income. In addition, bursars can do vacation work in July and December each year and may qualify for Sappi’s Engineer‑in‑Training Programme after graduation.
