What the opportunity is

The City of Ekurhuleni, Gauteng, is running a Youth Employment Programme aimed at young people who are currently unemployed. The goal is to give you a taste of the workplace, develop practical skills and improve your employability. Applications close on 03 June 2026.

Data Capturer – Rodent Control Programme

Requirements: Grade 12 or equivalent, advanced computer literacy, good communication and interpersonal skills, and basic knowledge of office administration. Any relevant experience is an advantage.

Duties: Capture and manage data for the rodent‑control project, provide administrative support, ensure work meets set standards, maintain customer satisfaction and follow supervisor instructions.

Team Leader – Rodent Control Programme

Reference Number: SPHESD0001_26

Requirements: Grade 12 or equivalent.

Duties: Ensure General Workers report for duty, complete attendance registers, collate daily reports for the Environmental Health Practitioner, report absent Rodent Control Ambassadors and monitor that work is carried out according to area plans.

General Worker – Rodent Control Programme

Reference Number: SPHESD0003_26

Requirements: Grade 10 or equivalent.

Duties: Conduct door‑to‑door education and surveys in assigned wards, distribute pamphlets, mobilise residents for community meetings, follow up on infested premises, record visits and pamphlets handed out, and assist with health talks. You will be expected to inspect at least 30 premises per day.
