PDC Engineering Apprenticeship 2026 – Apply by 29 May

PDC is urgently inviting unemployed South African youth to apply for the Engineering Apprenticeship Programme 2026 – a chance to start a skilled trade while you earn.

What the opportunity is

The Engineering Apprenticeship Programme 2026 offers hands‑on training in four trade areas. Successful apprentices will work for PDC and learn on the job.

Who can apply

You must meet all of the following minimum requirements:

  • Matric (Grade 12) certificate
  • Passes in Mathematics and Physical Science
  • Good English – you can read, write and speak
  • Trade theory subjects for the chosen trade at N2 level or higher

Application deadline: 29 May 2026. The apprenticeships are based anywhere in South Africa.

What you gain

During the apprenticeship you will develop practical skills in one of these trades:

  • Electrician (1 vacancy)
  • Millwright (1 vacancy)
  • Fitter and Turner (2 vacancies)
  • Tool and Die Maker (2 vacancies)

You will receive a stipend, on‑the‑job training, and a certificate that can help you find permanent work – although a job after the programme is not guaranteed.

How to apply – step by step

  1. Gather the required documents (see the list below).
  2. Write a concise CV and a short cover letter explaining why you want this apprenticeship.
  3. Make certified copies of your ID, qualifications and proof of residence – they must be dated within the last three months.
  4. Send all documents to hr@pdc.co.za using the subject line “Engineering Apprenticeship 2026 Application”.
  5. Wait for a shortlist – only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.

Tips to improve your chances

  • Check that every document is clearly legible and correctly certified.
  • Tailor your cover letter to the specific trade you are applying for.
  • Proofread your CV for spelling and formatting errors.
  • Follow the email instructions exactly – missing information can disqualify you.
  • If you are already an employee, note that you may move from your current grade to a first‑year apprentice contract.

Required documents

  • Cover Letter
  • Certified copy of South African ID
  • Certified copies of qualifications
  • Proof of residence
  • Any additional documents requested on the online application system
