What the internship is

The programme gives unemployed youth real‑world experience in a theatre environment. It lasts up to 24 months and is paid at R6 094.25 per month. Interns will work in the Client Services department of either the Joburg Theatre (Braamfontein) or the Soweto Theatre (Jabulani).

Who can apply

To be eligible you must:

  • Be a South African citizen
  • Be 18‑35 years old
  • Live in a Johannesburg community
  • Have never done a similar internship, unless it was unrelated to your qualification
  • Hold Grade 12 / NQF Level 4
  • Hold a diploma in Performing Arts, Dramatic Arts or a comparable qualification
  • Be comfortable using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and email

  • Compile facilitator reports
  • Monitor attendance registers and supporting documents

  • Provide general arts administration support
  • Gain hands‑on experience in programme coordination and stakeholder engagement
