City of Mbombela Traffic Officer Learnership 2025 – Join the Road Safety Team

The City of Mbombela, a Category 7 municipality in Mpumalanga Province, is looking for unemployed South‑African teenagers who want to help protect roads and help the community. If you have a passion for road safety and enjoy working with people, this program could be a perfect start to your career.

The job will be part of the Traffic Officer Learnership Programme 2025. During the programme you will learn everything you need to become a traffic officer who keeps roads safe.

What the Learnership Covers

The 12‑month course gives you both classroom study and hands‑on practice. You will learn:

  • How traffic laws work in South Africa
  • Road safety rules and how to teach them to the public
  • How to enforce the National Road Traffic Act (Act 93 of 1996)

You will see real traffic scenes, practice stopping vehicles, and run safety workshops. The training fits into the city’s plan to grow skills, empower young people, and keep the community safe.


Who Can Apply

To be considered you need:

  • A Grade 12 (Matric) certificate
  • A valid driving licence
  • Be under 35 years old
  • No criminal record or pending court cases
  • Be physically fit and ready for training exercises
  • Be a South‑African citizen and live in Ori something?
  • Proof that you live in Mbombela, with a ward number on the form

What You’ll Do

While you train, you will:

  1. Study traffic law and safety theory
  2. Practice stopping or escorting vehicles
  3. Teach road safety tips to students and local residents

You earn a R6 500 stipend every month and learn how a traffic officer keeps roads clear and safe.
