What the bursary is

The SAICA Thuthuka Bursary Programme supports learners from disadvantaged backgrounds who wish to study accounting. It pays for tuition, accommodation, meals and required textbooks, and adds academic, social and professional development to help you succeed.

Who can apply

  • South African citizen
  • Black African or Coloured
  • From a disadvantaged household (annual income ≤ R350 000)
  • In Matric or have completed Matric in the last 2 years
  • Scored at least 60 % in Mathematics (not Maths Literacy) in Grade 11
  • Planning to study Accounting at a SAICA‑accredited university in 2027
  • Already applied or will apply to a participating university
  • Will write or have written the National Benchmark Tests (NBT)
