About NRWDI
NRWDI stands for the National Radioactive Waste Disposal Institute. It is the main South African organisation that makes sure radioactive waste is dealt with safely. The institute is based in Pelindaba, a small town in the North West Province. Here, scientists, engineers, and other specialists work to keep people and the environment protected from dangerous waste.
Why Intern at NRWDI?
NRWDI wants to give fresh graduates a chance to learn how a real company runs. Interns get to work on real projects, talk with experienced mentors, and receive a monthly allowance of R8 500. 1. Science, Engineering & Technology Intern
- Who is it for? Recent science or engineering graduates.
- What do you do? Work on real research projects that help the institute safely manage radioactive waste.
- What do you learn?
- Hands‑on scientific experiments.
- Everyday engineering tasks in a lab or field setting.
- Working with senior technicians who will guide you.
2. Office of the CEO Intern
- Who is it for? Students who enjoy leadership, strategy, and big‑picture thinking.
- What do you do? Assist the CEO’s team with important projects—think budgeting, policy planning, and company decisions.
- What do you learn?
- How a company’s top leaders make choices.
- The basics of running a large organisation.
- How to plan and organise projects that impact many people.
3. Finance / Supply‑Chain Management Intern
- Who is it for? Those who like numbers, business deals, and getting things where they need to go.
- What do you do? Help the finance department with budgets, invoices, and supply‑chain logistics.
- What do you learn?
- Managing money in a big company.
- Tracking goods and services that the institute needs.
- Writing reports that help the team make decisions.
4. Human Resources / Legal Intern
- Who is it for? Graduates interested in people, rules, and how the law keeps a business running smoothly.
- What do you do? Help HR with hiring, training, and employee questions, and support legal tasks like contract reviews.
- What do you learn?
- HR processes that keep the workplace fair and safe.
- Legal basics that protect the company and its workers.
- How to organise and report on human‑resource matters.
