About the Qotho Minerals Internship 2025

Qotho Minerals is a leading name in making special test samples that labs use to check their results. They need a fresh group of science‑eager graduates who want to learn the real world of lab work, data handling and quality rules.

The internship runs for 12 months and gives you hands‑on experience inside a top‑class laboratory that follows international quality standards like ISO 17025, 17034 and 17043.

You will learn both laboratory techniques and how to manage and analyse data that labs use to keep everything running smoothly.


Key Responsibilities

1. Quality System Support

  • Keep track of documents: file, distribute and monitor records.
  • Help prepare for audits and review suppliers.
  • Record any problems and track the fixes that are put in place.

2. Laboratory & Production Support

  • Do basic chemistry tests and sample prep under guidance.
  • Check that lab work meets quality standards.
  • Help with labeling, packaging and paperwork for PT (Proficiency Testing) and QRM (Quality Reference Material) projects.

3. Data Management & Analysis

  • Use Microsoft Excel to collect, tidy, and analyse lab data.
  • Collect data for studies that verify how consistent and stable reference materials stay over time.
  • Produce simple charts and short reports that show how well the lab is doing.

Minimum Requirements

Education

You must have a completed three‑year tertiary qualification in one of these areas:

  • Chemistry or Analytical Chemistry
  • Agricultural Science or Food Science
  • Geoscience or a related natural science field

Technical Skills

  • Must: Be comfortable using Microsoft Excel.
  • Nice to have: Know basic laboratory techniques and Good Laboratory Practice (GLP).

Competencies

  • Great attention to detail.
  • Good at managing time and staying organized.
  • Interested in learning how quality systems and lab standards work.
  • Keeps information private and follows instructions closely.
  • Independent, motivated and ready to learn new things.
