About the Chinese Bursary Programme 2026
The Limpopo Office of the Premier, together with the Education, Training and Development Practices Sector Education and Training Authority (ETDPSETA), has created a chance for young South Africans from Limpopo to study abroad in China.
Starting in February 2026, you could earn a four‑year bachelor’s degree without paying any tuition or living costs.
What the Programme Offers
- Full tuition for all four years.
- Room and board at a university dorm or student house.
- Monthly stipend to cover your day‑to‑day expenses.
- Round‑trip flights between South Africa and China.
- Before‑departure training in Mandarin language and local culture.

Field of Study
You can pick one of the following programmes, all of which are in high demand back home.
- Bachelor of Engineering – Data Science & Big Data Technology (Reference: TDP/DSBDT/2025).
- Bachelor of Science – Mathematics & Applied Mathematics (Reference: ETDP/MAM/2025).
- Bachelor of Engineering – New Energy Power Generation Engineering Technology (Reference: ETDP/NEPG/2025).
These subjects teach you to analyze data, design renewable power solutions, and create smarter engineering systems.
Who Can Apply
To be considered, you must meet the simple checklist below.
- Be a South African citizen still living in Limpopo.
- Be 30 years old or younger.
- Score at least 60 % in both Mathematics and Physical Science in Grade 12.
- Have an overall Grade 12 average of 60 % or higher.
- Not be working or studying at another university.
- Have no criminal record.
- If you receive a social grant, we will give you extra weight (prove it with a SASSA letter).
- Finish Grade 12 between 2022 and 2025.
What You Need to Submit
All your documents must be bundled into one PDF file and uploaded on the Limpopo eRecruitment System.
Required papers:
- A two‑page motivation letter explaining why you deserve the bursary and the course code you chose.
- A certified copy of your Grade 12 certificate and your latest result slip.
- A certified copy of your South African ID.
- Proof of residence (e.g., a recent utility bill, not older than three months).
- If you receive a grant, a confirmation letter from SASSA.
Make sure everything is clear, correct, and signed where needed.
