What You’ll Do

During your internship you will help with:

  1. Risk Management Strategy – Work with senior staff to develop plans that keep the municipality safe from financial and operational risks.

  3. Policy Development – Draft policies and procedures that prevent fraud and ensure the city follows the law, including the Municipal Finance Management Act (MFMA) and the Municipal Systems Act (MSA).

  5. Other Projects – Whenever the manager needs help on a new task, you’ll jump in and learn something new.

Who Should Apply

The internship is open only to people who meet these simple conditions:

  • You must be between 18 and 35 years old.
  • You should have finished grade 12 and hold a three‑year National Diploma or an equivalent qualification in one of the following fields: Risk Management, Internal Auditing or Accounting.
  • You must be a South African citizen and currently unemployed.
  • This is your first internship – you should not have taken a similar role before.
  • You’ll need to sign a contract that explains the terms of the internship.
