What the Apprenticeship Looks Like

You’ll spend a few years learning the trade. KONE will give you hands‑on training, classroom lessons, and the chance to work on real projects. After you finish, you could become a skilled lift mechanic or move into other engineering roles inside the company.


Who Can Apply?

  • Finished high school (Grade 12) with Mathematics and Science courses or an N2 / N3 qualification in Mechanical or Electrical tech.
  • Under 35 years old.
  • A certificate for an Electrical Trade Test is a plus.
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Basic customer‑service skills help, but you’ll learn more on the job.
  • Good at talking with others and working in a team.

What You’ll Need on the Job

  • Strong interest in mechanics and technology.
  • Able to read technical drawings and follow detailed instructions.
  • Leadership qualities – you’ll often help newer teammates.
  • Attention to detail – elevators can’t be broken.
  • Self‑motivation and the ability to stay calm under pressure.
  • Willingness to lift up to 15 kg and work at heights or on ladders.
  • Must be medically fit for physical work.
