Job Alert: Youth Graduate Work Opportunities – EPWP 2026 in Mogale City

If you’re a recent graduate who doesn’t have a job yet and you’re between 18 and 35 years old, you might want to read this. The Mogale City Local Municipality, together with the Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment (DFFE), is offering 55 short‑term jobs for young people who just finished university. These roles last five months and give you a chance to learn real‑world skills in areas that help protect our planet. The program is part of the Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP). The stipend for each day of work is R271.04, which can help cover living costs while you gain experience.


What You’ll Do

The positions cover several environmental and city services areas. Below is a quick look at what each type of role involves. If a role sounds interesting, check the requirements and apply before 6 February 2026.

1. Education & Awareness – 3 posts

  • Build and run programs that teach people about the environment.
  • Make flyers, posters, and displays that explain eco‑friendly habits.
  • Watch how well the programs work and suggest improvements.

2. Climate Change – 3 posts

  • Carry out projects that tackle climate change.
  • Work with data and community groups to reduce carbon footprints.

3. Environmental Compliance Promotion – 3 posts

  • Go out into the field to see if people follow environmental rules.
  • Gather evidence like photos to back up enforcement actions.
  • Encourage sustainable practices in the community.

4. Landscaping – 3 posts

  • Plan and design green spaces for the city.
  • Create plans that help cities become greener and more beautiful.
  • Help set up parks, gardens, and street trees, using local plants where possible.

5. Nature Conservation – 1 post

  • Spot and control hazards that threaten the workplace.
  • Collect and analyze data on biodiversity and conservation status.

6. Urban Green / Horticulture – 4 posts

  • Plant trees and work on community gardens.
  • Beautify neighborhoods through horticultural projects.

7. By‑law Enforcement – 9 posts

  • Find spots where illegal dumping happens.
  • Take pictures of violations for records.
  • Inspect sites and run info sessions for residents.
  • Prepare notices and fines for rule violators.

8. Environmental Health – 3 posts

  • Study illegal dumping spots.
  • Build databases for waste management.
  • Write standard operating procedures and explore revenue options from waste.

9. Administration – 2 posts

  • Keep office records and help with day‑to‑day paperwork.
  • Support budgeting, reporting, and project coordination.

Who Can Apply?

  • You must have a “M+3” qualification – that means you finished high school (Matric) and then completed three more years of study.
  • Your major should be one of these: Environment, Biodiversity, Conservation, Forestry, Air Quality, Landscaping & Horticulture, By‑law Enforcement, or Environmental Health.
  • Age between 18 and 35.
  • South African citizen.
  • Those who live in the Mogale City area are preferred.
  • People with disabilities are strongly encouraged to apply.
