Dis‑Chem Pharmacies is looking for new students to join its 2026 Dispensary Support Learnership program.
If you want to start a career in pharmacy, help people with their health needs, and learn from real pharmacists, this is a great chance. The program teaches you the basics of pharmacy work and gives you a job while you study. After you finish, you could stay on with Dis‑Chem as a permanent team member.
About Dis‑Chem Pharmacies
Dis‑Chem was set up in 1978 and has grown to become one of South Africa’s biggest pharmacy chains. It sells medicines, beauty products, and everyday household items. Many of its stores also have clinics, so people can get quick health checks right in the pharmacy.
What the Learnership Covers
You’ll work in a real pharmacy while you study to become a Basic Pharmacist Assistant. That means you’ll:
- Help sell certain medicines (called Schedule 1 drugs)
- Mix and prepare non‑sterile medicines according to clear instructions
- Keep the shelves neat and make sure items are in good condition
- Read prescriptions correctly with a pharmacist’s help
- Pack, label, and double‑check medications for safety
- Keep track of stock and expiry dates
- Talk to customers and provide simple health tips
- Help with special schemes for long‑term or serious illnesses
You’ll earn a contract job as a Dispensary Support staff member while you learn. Once you pass the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC) exam and get your qualification, you could move into a permanent role.
